The AMG A45 S 4Matic+ has remained largely unchanged since 2020, yet it retains the title of the most powerful hot hatch in the world. Nonetheless, Mercedes has introduced a new ‘Limited Edition’ model, showcasing an exclusive exterior shade named after the Green Hell (aka Nürburgring Nordschleife) along with an array of additional features.

The standout feature of the special edition is the attention-grabbing ‘AMG Green Hell Magno’ shade. While this color may be familiar to enthusiasts from the AMG GT series, it marks its debut in the compact segment with this release. The vibrant green hue is complemented by yellow accents and distinctive graphics, such as stripes, the AMG crest adorning the hood, and ‘A45 S’ lettering embellishing the doors.

The version-specific 19-inch forged wheels are finished in matte black with yellow highlights on the spokes. In contrast with the vivid colors, the brake calipers are finished in gloss black and feature white AMG lettering.

Other special touches include the AMG emblem on the fuel cap and the “AMG Coat of Arms” puddle lights. Inside, the flagship trim of the performance flagship of the A-Class family features Artico man-made leather and Microcut microfibre upholstery. The bright yellow stitching and piping stand out in the black-themed cabin, matching the multi-color ambient lighting.

While the ‘Limited Edition’ name typically denotes a fully equipped model, this one offers a selection of optional packages in true AMG fashion. The AMG Night Package enhances the vehicle with high-gloss black features and dark-tinted windows, while the AMG Night Package II further enhances the appearance with additional darkened trim and Mercedes stars.

Additionally, the AMG Aerodynamics Package introduces more sophisticated aerodynamic elements, such as the fixed rear wing.

Predictably, there are no changes under the hood. The turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder powertrain produces the same 416 hp (310 kW / 421 PS) and 500 Nm (369 lb-ft) of torque as in any other A45 S. Power is transmitted to all four wheels via an eight-speed automatic, assisted by the fully variable AMG Performance 4Matic+ system.

This setup allows the hot hatch to accelerate from 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in 3.9 seconds. On the other hand, top speed is limited to 270 km/h (168 mph), something that German buyers can actually test on the Autobahn.

The Mercedes-AMG A45 S 4Matic+ Limited Edition is already available to order in Europe ahead of its market launch in April 2024. In Germany, the cost of the additional equipment amounts €14,280 ($15,298)over the price of the regular A45 S model. Due to its limited production run, availability will be restricted to the end of the year, consistent with other special editions from Mercedes-AMG.
