The Miami skyline will soon be filled with automotive brands, as Porsche, Bentley, and Aston Martin have all partnered with Florida real estate companies to erect condo towers. Mercedes-Benz didn’t want to be left out of the party, and has announced that it, too, will put its name on a mixed-use residential building in the city.

The tower is being developed by JDS Development, and will have 791 residence (ranging from studio to three-bedroom condos). It will also offer 200,000 square-feet of office space, health and fitness facilities, 174 hotel rooms, and, as you would expect, parking.

The 67-story tower will be located in an area of Miami called Brickell, and the condos will range from $550,000 for studios to $4 million for three-bedrooms, reports the Miami Herald. The prices for penthouses have not yet been announced.

The building has been designed with the help of Mercedes’ design team, who say they have applied the same ethos of “Sensual Purity” used in their vehicles to the architectural concept. The team added that the stacked-box design reflects the automaker’s technical side, and describes the free-flowing lines of the building as “sensuous.” The technical silver finish, as well as the black and white finishes, come directly from its vehicles.

“Our branded real-estate venture in Miami embodies the strategy behind Mercedes-Benz Places,” said Eva Wiese, head of Mercedes-Benz Customer Solutions GmbH. “We want to develop exclusive residences with our partner that are undeniably Mercedes-Benz and create a new mode of urban living with vibrant communities.”

Buildings like these are a win-win for automakers and developers, according to Peter Zalewski, the founder of a real estate consultancy firm called Condo Vultures. He explains that condos are a nice way to pick up extra revenue for automakers and can add to their balance sheets, while also acting as an advertisement for the brand. Meanwhile, the developers get a big name to attach to their buildings.

However, the location Mercedes has selected for its tower is somewhat odd. Unlike other automakers that have placed their buildings along the beachfront or on Biscayne Bay, Mercedes’ tower is located in a more urban area.

“You have the Ace hardware, Wendy’s, gas station,” Zalewski told the Miami Herald. “I’m not a car guy, but when I see that area I think it’s more Volkswagen or Ford. This is more for the masses.”

However, Mercedes says that its tower will help transform the neighborhood, turning the nearby Southside Park into an “urban oasis.” The automaker also promises that residents will have views of Miami, Biscayne Bay, the Atlantic Ocean, and more. It says that people will be able to start living in the building in 2027.
