A racer in San Antonio, Texas, is asking for help from the racing community after his GT4 race car was recently stolen.
The car, a 2018 Mercedes-AMG GT4 race car, was in a 2020 Haulmark Edge trailer being towed behind a white 2019 GMC Denali HD. The owner, who asked KENS 5, an ABC affiliate, not to publish his name, said he had stopped for the night at a hotel in the La Cantera area, in the north of San Antonio, when the car was stolen.
He said that he has parked there before with no issue but when he left his hotel room on the morning of Friday, May 6, at 8:00 am, he found nothing. Despite having the truck keys in his pocket, there was no sign of his truck.

He immediately called tow companies to see if his truck had been removed from the scene but had no luck. So he called the police.
“The police officer indicated, when he came out here, he says, ‘This is not my jurisdiction, but I’ve been out here a few times. Every one of the calls have been stolen vehicles out of this parking lot.’”
The man believes that the truck was stolen at 2:00 am because that’s when he got four OnStar alerts sent to his phone saying that the truck’s theft-deterrent system had been triggered. That’s all he knows for the moment, though.
The police said they were still working on their report. The owner expects that they may be aided by the fact that the car is one of just 200 in existence. He added that “it’s a very obvious car. It stands out like a sore thumb.”
He added that the joke was on whoever stole the trailer because the car, which is powered by a 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine that makes 510 hp (380 kW/517 PS), is “not street-legal. You can’t register it. There’s not a use for it other than racing.”
Although police recommend never leaving valuables out in the open in your car and remembering to lock your vehicle and never leave it running, the owner said he did all of that.
“I hear a lot about stolen vehicles in this area and it seems to be on the uptick,” he said. “The awareness needs to get out there. We all need to be vigilant, watching out for one another.”
