The 2023 Toyota GR Corolla has started to touch down on the shores of Australia but it is still not clear how much it will set back local buyers.

The new GR Corolla is one of the most hotly-anticipated hatches in recent memory and given Australia’s love of performance cars, is bound to be a success. We’ve already had the opportunity to sample it in the United States and were blown away and soon, customers Down Under will have the chance to put it through its paces.

Images recently shared to the Toyota Corolla Club Australia page on Facebook show a black GR Corolla on its way to a dealership in Queensland. It is apparently one of roughly 20 cars to have arrived in Australia prior to customer deliveries commencing in March. Australia has been allocated 500 units of the GR Corolla for the 2023 calendar year.

Toyota GR Corolla Touches Down In Australia But Pricing Remains A Mystery

Drive reports that Toyota won’t announce local pricing details for a number of weeks.

While it remains unclear which variants of the GR Corolla are heading Down Under, local shoppers are believed to be receiving an entry-level version, a mid-tier model, and a flagship variant dubbed the Morizo, just like the U.S. market. The mid-range model is expected to be the same as the Circuit Edition sold in the U.S. and come complete with a forged carbon fiber roof, a distinctive hood, a large rear wing, and red brake calipers.

Meanwhile, the Morizo is the most track-focused of the bunch and lacks rear seats, rear door speakers, a rear window regulator, rear wiper blade and motor, and comes standard with a carbon fiber roof, aluminum hood, aluminum front doors, and 18-inch forged wheels.

Prices are expected to start at roughly AU$65,000 ($44,949) and could swell to almost AU$100,000 ($69,152) for the Morizo.
