YangWang, a newly established premium brand from BYD, is ready to unveil its third offering – the U6 sedan. The model that will soon join the U8 flagship SUV and U9 electric supercar is said to have the best aerodynamic coefficient of any production car in the world with an impressive value of 0.195 cd.

The YangWang U6 hasn’t debuted yet, but it recently appeared in patent drawings revealing the entirety of its exterior design. While the Chinese brand remains tight-lipped about the upcoming model, its name and drag coefficient were anounced during the Academic Annual Conference Of The Automotive Aerodynamics Committee in China.

The presentation included a profile shot and the 0.195 cd figure, followed by a chart with the 10 most aerodynamic vehicles currently in production. This proves that the YangWang U6 will land in the top spot if it delivers the promised results. As is the case with other models, the record-breaking figure could be achieved only by a particular trim with special equipment like mirror-replacing cameras and aero wheel covers.

From the patent drawing gallery below, we can see the stretched low-slung silhouette and sloping roofline of the model. The large headlights look similar to the YangWang U9, with a wide bumper intake above a pronounced splitter. Other features include the Taycan-style fenders and low nose, the oversized side gills, the black-painted roof, the chrome-infused windows, and the active rear spoiler. The mirror-replacing cameras will likely be optional since the patent drawings show a model with conventional mirrors. We can also see a roof-mounted LiDAR sensor, while earlier spy shots from China revealed a trio of displays on the dashboard.

While we don’t have the measurements of the YangWang U6, its proportions look similar to the 4,980 mm (196 inches) long BYD Chaser 07, although it could have a larger footprint. Reports from China suggest that the sedan could be offered in BEV and PHEV forms, since BYD’s architecture is compatible with both. The fully electric version will likely adopt YangWang’s quad-motor setup which is good for more than 1,100 hp (820 kW / 1,115 PS) of power. The company could also equip the sedan with the sophisticated Disus-X suspension system of its supercar, although nothing has been confirmed at this point.

Chinese media suggest that the YangWang U6 will be priced around the ¥800,000 mark ($108,923), making it cheaper than a Tesla Model S Plaid which costs ¥1,028,900 ($140,089) in China. This number would also make it more affordable compared to electric flagships coming from European automakers including the BMW i7 and Mercedes-Benz EQS sedan.
